Performance

Performance

As a composer and performer Hadjiev works actively in the field of interdisciplinary performance and theater. Together with the director Ksenia Ravvina they created works for Deutsches Theater Berlin, Theater Münster, Mousonturm, Theater Dramstadt and others. He is a grantee of the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe, MusikFonds , Fond Darstellender Kunst, Mercator Stiftung, Kulturstiftung NRW and others . He worked with artists such as Ensemble Modern, Paul Frick, Katja Cheraneva, Frances Chiaverini, Sara Bizzoca, Stefan Goldmann, Kristina Veit, Mihaela Dobreva, Yang Gee and many more.

In 2016 Alexandar was artist-in-residence at the Bauhaus Dessau, where he developed his solo a/v performance "move(me-n)t", which he performed at the Kurt Weill Fest Dessau, 180° Festival in Sofia and in front of members of the European Union Commission in Brussels. Part of his work is exhibited at Gropiushaus in Dessau.

As a bassoonist Alexandar Hadjiev is member of "M.A.M.manufaktur für aktuelle musik" and regular guest at the Ensemble Modern. In the years he performed also with Ensemble Garage, Bochumer Simfoniker, Saarländisches Staatsorchester, Le Concert Impromptu, Folkwang Kammerorchester, Altstadt Herbst Orchester and other great groups. He worked with artists such as Helmut Lachenmann, Heiner Goebbels, Sofia Gubaidulina, Heinz Holliger, Beat Furer, Matthias Pintscher, Duncan Ward, Gidon Krämer, Ashley Fure, Olga Neuwirth and many more. Alexandar participated in numerous festivals and concerts around Germany, Bulgaria, France, Indonesia, Mexico, Vietnam, Mynmar, Finland, China, Croatia, Phillipines and many others exiting locations around the world.

Alexandar Hadjiev is co-founder and curator of the "180° - laboratory for innovative art" Festival in Sofia, Bulgaria. 180° is one of the most innovative forums for contemporary art in Bulgaria. A Festival in the form of a laboratory, which gives the artists the possibility to experiment and create art without having certain criterias and having the pressure of creating a “product” in the end. 180° creates new interdisciplinary collaborations and allows the participants to take risks. 
Together with Ksenia Ravvina, Alexandar Hadjiev is artistic director of Hauptsache Frei Festival in Hamburg from 2024-2026

Cultural Collaborations

Since 2013 Alexandar Hadjiev is developing and working on projects in Germany and Bulgaria, provoking the development of the creativity and imagination, using the aspects of collaborative artistic work. He is Artist-Coach at the project "KreativLabor" of the Charles-Hallgarten-School Frankfurt. Since 2013 he is involved in various education projects of International Ensemble Modern Academy and "Kunst and Natur" Foundation in the Frankfurter schools IGS Nordend and Bettinaschule. Between 2017 and 2020 he is Artist-coach at the AllOurFuture project of Theatre Frankfurt, working weekly with 3 school groups. He was also involved in other projects such as "MuFki", "Response" and more. In 2021-22 he is part of the project Art Interventions in the Cultural Education, curated by Universität Hildesheim, Bundesakademie Wolfenbüttel and Mercator Foundation.

Alexandar worked as bassoon, piano and music teacher. Between 2012-2019 he was teacher at Metropolitan School Frankfurt
